The Ozarks Family Resource Center (Springfield)

The Ozarks Family Resource Center is located on the Springfield Jim D. Morris Campus of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri. The center provides short-term shelter services for Southwest Missouri children removed from crises and homeless youth, and offers parenting skills education for families at risk for child abuse and neglect, domestic unrest or violence. The center provides a warm, safe and nurturing environment for newborns to 18-year-olds, and emphasizes family mediation. The facility meets state licensing requirements for emergency child care.

The goals of this program are to provide short-term shelter services for Greene County children removed from crises, to keep children closer to their homes, to keep siblings together, provide psychological assessments to determine the best possible long-term placement for the children and also provide respite care for foster parents.

The Ozarks Family Resource Center supports homeless youth by providing emergency shelter, equipping them with job training, life skills, and connecting them with community resources. Central Region Campus in Columbia: (Driving Directions)

Boys & Girls Town purchased the 5.8-acre site and six buildings at Bearfield Road in 2004. Three buildings underwent renovation. In 2005, Boys & Girls Town consolidated residential services formerly housed in two homes located at separate sites in the Columbia community and opened a boys cottage and a girls cottage, housing 12 residents each, and an office of administration at this new campus location.

The second phase of renovation consisted of renovating two more cottages for residential treatment, a centralized dining hall and a meeting room for recreational therapy programs. The new cottages opened in September 2008 and at full capacity, 48 children reside on campus. Renovation work continues on the dining/recreation hall.

The Columbia campus offers residential treatment and other support services for children and youth ages birth to 21. Columbia campus residents attend school through Columbia Public Schools.

Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch: (Driving Directions)

Click here to learn more about the Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch.

Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch offers programs designed to develop young people of character and integrity and to build stronger relationships and communities through adventure and wilderness experiences.

Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch blends high adventure and wilderness activities with the chance to have fun and be a kid in a safe supportive environment. We use these “out-of-the-norm” experiences and relate them to real life situations, helping individuals find their way, not just in the woods, but in life. All activities are planned, executed and processed to accomplish therapeutic goals.  These rigorous, yet exciting, activities help interrupt negative behavior patterns and provide the opportunity to adopt alternative behaviors and make better choices and leading to enhanced self-worth.

Therapeutic and staff support during the activities is vital to the success of the program.  We emphasize low participant to staff ratios, and continuous therapeutic support.

Programs vary according to goals and needs, and range from intensive therapeutic wilderness expeditions to multi-day intervention programs, day trips, therapeutic summer camp programs and family camp experiences.

Situated on 1,200 pristine acres in the heart of the Ozarks, the Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch offers three miles of riverfront, wooded hills, fields, streams, bluffs and caves, as well as state of the art recreational facilities. It offers a secluded haven perfect for the youth at Boys & Girls Town of Missouri and to meet any program’s needs.
