Admission into one of Boys & Girls Town's programs is fast, confidential, and focused on addressing the child's and family's needs. Children and youth from newborns to age 21 are eligible for admission, based on their particular family, emotional and financial circumstances.
Referrals may be made at any time by local or state agencies, juvenile justice systems, schools, insurance and managed care companies, physicians, employee assistance professionals, parents or other guardians.
Referrals may come from Missouri or any other state. Children may be placed at any of the agency's campuses, each of which offers a wide range of therapeutic options, led by highly qualified and experienced staff. Placement is based on the availability of bed space and current diagnosis. Age and placement criteria vary at each campus.
Admissions specialists are available to receive inquiries and referrals and to start the admissions process. In most cases, the initial case review can be completed within 24 hours or less and an admissions decision rendered.
Once admitted, children are placed in an age-appropriate treatment unit for an initial period of individual evaluation and assessment. This precautionary approach ensures the safety of all residents, while allowing the Boys & Girls Town staff to determine the appropriate level of care, regulate medications, if any, and develop a customized treatment plan that meets the needs of the child and his or her family. |
