Boys & Girls Town of Missouri
Awarded National Accreditation from the Joint Commission

St. James, Mo. (August 1, 2007) –  By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety, Boys & Girls Town of Missouri has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation.

“In receiving reaccreditation, Boys & Girls Town was evaluated against a set of national standards by a Joint Commission team experienced in the delivery of behavioral health care services,” says Mary Cesare-Murphy, executive director, Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program, Joint Commission.  “Achieving accreditation demonstrates Boys & Girls Town of Missouri’s organization-wide commitment to providing safe, client-focused care, treatment and services.”

“We are pleased to once again demonstrate the high standards to which we adhere,” said Vince Hillyer, president of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri.  “We make a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day care basis throughout our agency.  We seek accreditation for our organization because we want to be the best and we view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward excellence.

“Children and families in our care can rest assured that reaccreditation by The Joint Commission confirms our commitment to providing the best services available.”

The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced, on-site evaluation of Boys & Girls Town campuses in Columbia, Springfield, St. James and St. Louis in April.  The next accreditation visit will be in 2010.

Boys & Girls Town has been accredited by the Joint Commission since 1985 and is one of four children’s behavioral health 24-hour treatment programs in Missouri which have earned the accreditation.

The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.  Individuals interested in learning more about Joint Commission standards and other organizations earning The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval can find that information on the web site at www.jointcommission.org.  Boys & Girls Town of Missouri is listed under its original agency name of incorporation, Boys Town of Missouri, Inc.
