Boys & Girls Town Board & Friends Golf Tournament Sets Record
Raises $25,000 to Help Children Being Treated for Abuse and Neglect
St. James, Mo. (September 6, 2007) – Boys & Girls Town of Missouri 22nd Annual St. James Board & Friends Golf Tournament raised an all-time high $25,000 to help children being treated for emotional problems from abuse and neglect. Held for the first time at Oak Meadow Country Club in Rolla, 96 golfers on 24 teams helped make the tournament the most successful ever.
“We are so thankful for the outstanding community support,” said Steve Bowles, branch manager of Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and chairperson of the Boys & Girls Town golf tournament volunteer committee. “We are extremely pleased with the turnout and support for the first year at a new venue. However, we aren’t going to rest on our laurels. At this new location we can handle additional teams and hope to help even more children next year. ”
There were three flights of teams. The flight 1 winning team included Dr. Mitchell Esquibel, Don Isgrigg, Jimmy Jones and Mark Miller. The team comprised of Kevin Barr, Lee Buhr, Robyn Wolf and Wendy Young won flight 2. The Key Sport team of Bill Brinleer, Joe Gorman, Sara Gorman and Gary Miles won flight 3.
Phelps County Bank was the lead supporter and Miller Glass served as event sponsor. Major corporate sponsors included Ameriserve, Dr. Mitchell Esquibel, Farm Bureau Insurance, Forest City Pharmacy, On the Run at Mobil, Pepsi Cola Bottling, Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Tacony Manufacturing and Wal-Mart Distribution Center 6069. |
