Honors St. James Trustees for Outstanding Service

St. James, Mo. (March 13, 2008) –  Rolla resident Steve Bowles and St. James resident David Connell were honored by Boys & Girls Town of Missouri for their outstanding service to the agency at the agency’s recent annual meeting.

Bowles, branch manager of Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of New Haven, and chairperson of the Boys & Girls Town golf tournament volunteer committee in 2007, received the Star Volunteer award.  Under his leadership, the golf tournament moved to a new venue, attracted new friends and raised funds to help children being treated for emotional problems from abuse and neglectBowles has been an active trustee for eight years. 

Connell, senior vice president with Phelps County Bank, was honored as outgoing chair of the South Central Region board of trustees.  He joined the board in 2003 and has served as chair since 2005.  Under his leadership, Connell introduced a formalized direct charitable giving program, energized overall trustee participation in meetings, events and giving, and recruited new trustees from communities across the region. 

Outgoing trustees Wilbert Falke and David Verkamp also were honored for completing their terms as trustees.
