Springfield Businessman and Philanthropist Jim D. Morris
Donates $300,000 to Boys & Girls Town of Missouri

Springfield, Mo. (March 20, 2008) – Springfield businessman and philanthropist Jim D. Morris, of Morris Oil Company, has donated $300,000 for children in treatment programs at Boys & Girls Town of Missouri.

His donation will help support therapeutic recreation programs at Boys & Girls Town’s Meramec Wilderness Learning Ranch – activities in which children from the Southwest Region regularly participate. His donation also supports expansion of services which offer intensive treatment for children who exhibit a severe mental illness and/or persistent mental disorder.

“Jim Morris’s love for troubled children is no secret,” said Vince Hillyer, president of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri.  “We are so grateful to him for reaching out to these children and for helping Boys & Girls Town provide the best treatment so they can lead positive, productive lives.”

Morris is a long-time supporter of troubled children and Boys & Girls Town of Missouri.  His personal and corporate support provided funding to completely renovate the social services, education and administrative center on the Springfield campus at 1212 West Lombard in 1999. He also generously supported construction of the Ozarks Family Resource Center, a 24-hour emergency shelter for children who have been removed from dangerous, life-threatening situations.
