Support Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Awareness Month:
Free Awareness Wristbands and Pins Available from Boys & Girls Town of Missouri

St. James, Mo. (April 4, 2008) – According to the most recent information available from the Missouri Department of Social Services, in 2006 there were 5,812 cases of substantiated abuse or neglect involving 7,222 children in Missouri. Twenty-seven children died as a result of child abuse or neglect in 2006.  These figures only represent the numbers brought to the attention of Missouri Children’s Division.  Much child abuse and neglect goes unreported.

Boys & Girls Town of Missouri serves children with histories of abuse and neglect, severe behavior disorders and psychological problems.  In 2007, Boys & Girls Town of Missouri served more than 5,400 children and family members from 88 of Missouri’s 114 counties plus the City of St. Louis.

For parenting tips on how parents can help prevent crises with their children or a free blue “Keep Kids Safe” awareness wristband or blue ribbon pin, log onto Boys & Girls Town of Missouri’s website, www.bgtm.org.

Offer is available in United States and Canada, and good while supplies last.
