PHELPS COUNTY BANK, BRAD AND VICKI FRAZIER HONORED AS HIGHLIGHTS OF HOPE FOR BOYS & GIRLS TOWN OF MISSOURI
St. James, Mo. (December 22, 2009) – Supporters young and old gathered on December 16 at the Bill Wallis Recreation Center for Boys & Girls Town’s annual Candlelight Dinner, the agency’s signature event to thank and recognize community members for supporting and contributing to their mission of serving troubled children.
“Each year it is our honor to highlight an individual or business who has contributed to the Boys & Girls Town mission,” said Vince Hillyer, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Town. “This year we also want to say thank you to old friends, who have been with us on our journey for a number of years.”
The evening’s honorees were Phelps County Bank and Brad & Vicki Frazier, who were each bestowed the agency’s Highlight of Hope award for the phenomenal work they do for the kids living on the agency’s St. James campus. Many community leaders were in attendance, including State Representative Dr. Dan Brown, Mayor Dennis Wilson of St. James, Mayor Terry Palmer of Steelville, Commissioner Randy Verkamp, and Kathy Oliver, Phelps County Public Administrator. Lieutenant Colonel Kent Soebbing of Fort Leonard Wood was also a special guest.
Phelps County Bank has been a supporter of Boys & Girls Town for over 20 years, contributing both financially and by providing leadership for annual fundraisers as well as on its board of directors. They helped build the Bill Wallis Recreational Center and renovate the Creative Play Daycare on the St. James campus, and have rallied support and contributed countless hours to Boys & Girls Town.
“Every request is met with support and a desire to help. They are great community leaders and great friends of our children,” said Hillyer.
The second award was presented to Brad and Vicki Frazier of St. James, a couple whose tireless efforts for Boys & Girls Town have made a lasting impact with the organization. Dedicated volunteers to the agency, the Fraziers have long been a presence at the St. James campus helping with everything from fundraising to renovations to programs. Brad Frazier is general manager of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in St. James. Vicki has served as a volunteer for the Changing Prisms mentor workshop and many other projects.
“As a dynamic couple, the Fraziers make great things happen in our community and for the children of Boys & Girls Town. We look forward to our strong future together and the next things to come,” said Hillyer while presenting their award.
The evening concluded with a special holiday performance from the Boys & Girls Town choir, led by director Brent Copeland. The choir has been performing around the state this year, and is comprised of kids who reside on the St. James campus. |
