Changing Lives through ‘Changing Prisms’
ST. LOUIS, MO (April 14, 2010) – Each year, nearly a hundred women ages 13-75 gather to share to experience a life-altering event that will shape the lives of at-risk girls from across the state.
The event, called Changing Prisms, is a unique annual workshop and treatment program which focuses specifically on the needs of young women between the ages of 13 and 18, most of whom have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma and are extremely vulnerable. Changing Prisms helps these young women deal with their feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, depression and anxiety through activities and workshops designed to help improve their confidence and self-esteem. The girls are paired with successful women from throughout the Midwest who serve as mentors, sharing the experiences they have had in overcoming similar challenges that the girls are facing.
Changing Prisms consists of a two-day workshop on June 11th & 12th on the St. James campus of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri, a Great Circle agency. For more information, please contact Judy Hillyer at (314)401-9468 or Judy.Hillyer@great-circle.org. |
