BOYS & GIRLS TOWN EMPLOYEES CELEBRATE MILESTONES
 |
(L to R): Susan Brimer, Frank Skyles and Lisa Paulette all celebrated significant milestones as employees of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri this year. |
ST. JAMES, MO (January 25, 2012) – Boys & Girls Town of Missouri has been a proud member of the St. James community for over 60 years, first opening its doors in 1949. The agency’s long history of helping vulnerable youth discover their inner strengths and create bright futures would not be possible without the employees that have dedicated their careers to the mission. Recently, three particular employees were honored for their longevity and continued service with the agency.
Maintenance service manager Frank Skyles has been a part of Boys & Girls Town for 30 years, first coming on board in 1981. Now overseeing all maintenance activity for the St. James campus, Skyles takes care of everything from building upkeep to disaster preparedness and everything in between.
“My 30 years here seem more like 10 or 15− there is a constant need for something somewhere. It has made the years fly by and has been very rewarding to do things for the kids, staff and visitors,” notes Skyles. “You always hope− and lots of times know− that what you do here each day has improved these kids’ lives and left them feeling more positive about themselves and society in general.”
Celebrating her 20th anniversary with Boys & Girls Town is Susan Brimer, executive assistant to Vince Hillyer, president and CEO of Great Circle. Brimer is responsible for all support activities and coordination for Hillyer’s busy and involved position. She is a long-time member of the International Association for Administrative Professionals, and is heavily involved with both the Missouri division and the Great Circle chapter of the association.
Lisa Paulette joined Boys & Girls Town in 2001 as a youth care specialist. Because of the many strengths and leadership talents demonstrated early in her career, Paulette was promoted to cottage life supervisor within just two years of joining Boys & Girls Town. Since her promotion, she has become one of Boys & Girls Town’s lead trainers of new staff members, easily embodying both a passion for the work as well as a competent guiding hand for the new employees. Last year, Paulette was nominated for the Missouri Coalition of Children’s Agencies (MCCA) Dwight E. Branson Direct Care Worker of the Year Award for her outstanding service to local youth in need.
Having joined the Great Circle family of agencies in 2009, Boys & Girls Town is now part of one of the largest children’s social service agencies in the state, operating from four campuses and employing over 700 people across the state.
