About Us
Boys and Girls Town of Missouri’s Adolescent Recovery Treatment Services are dedicated to the treatment and recovery of adolescents ages 12 to 17 who have experienced life problems as a result of alcohol or drug abuse. We offer a safe, secluded and nurturing therapeutic environment ideal for beginning the substance abuse recovery process. Our campus includes cottages specifically designed for males and females that are located on a beautiful, serene wooded campus.
Philosophy
Adolescent Recovery Treatment Services at Boys and Girls Town utilize a holistic approach to adolescent recovery. Our programming is individualized to meet the unique needs of each adolescent. When dealing with adolescents suffering from alcohol or drug abuse it is essential to understand the developmental effect on all areas of the adolescent’s life—physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, education and interpersonal.
Our treatment philosophy follows a strength-based approach. We help adolescents focus on using their strengths to make better, more informed choices and to learn positive behaviors. Positive behaviors can lead to improved self-esteem and healthier relationships that help adolescents overcome self-defeating behaviors and addictions to harmful substances. Individualized treatment programs are developed to teach age appropriate social and behavioral management skills.
Comprehensive Assessment and Evaluation
Our specially trained professionals meet with the adolescent and his or her family to complete a comprehensive assessment and to determine the optimal level of treatment programming to guide healthy recovery. A face-to-face interview is conducted with the adolescent and family at the time of admission. Once the evaluation is completed, our treatment team develops an individual treatment plan including specific programming for stabilizing the adolescent and developing a foundation for abstinence and recovery.
Adolescent Treatment Services
One of the many strengths of our program is the care and detail to which the individual treatment plan for each adolescent is tailored to his or her specific treatment needs as identified during assessment and evaluation. Recovery treatment programming includes comprehensive information on alcohol and drugs, relapse prevention skills, and life skills that include problem solving, decision making, communication and anger management skills.
